Countertop

Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026

Countertop is designed so your kitchen stays yours. We don't run analytics, show ads, track you across apps or websites, or sell data.

Data that stays on your devices and in your iCloud

Your recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, grocery lists, cooking notes, ratings and photos are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We can't see this data. If you share your household plan, the people you invite can see the shared plan, grocery list and the recipes on that plan.

Community

If you post to the Community, your post (a photo of your dish, the recipe and the display name you choose) is stored in Countertop's public CloudKit database and can be seen by other Countertop users. Likes and reports you make are also stored there, linked to an anonymous identifier Apple provides. You can delete your posts at any time, and deleting your account in the app removes your posts, likes and reports.

Sign in with Apple

Signing in is optional. If you sign in, your name and email (or Apple's private relay address) are kept on your device to personalize the app. They are not sent to us.

Apple Intelligence, camera, microphone and photos

Recipe formatting, ingredient recognition and recipe creation run on your device. Camera, microphone, speech recognition and photo access are used only when you choose to scan, dictate or add a photo, and that content stays on your device unless you post it to the Community.

Links and imports

When you import a recipe from a link, your device downloads that public page directly. When you send a grocery list to a store, Countertop opens that store's website or app, and the store's own privacy policy applies there.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple. We don't receive your payment information.

Children

Countertop is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Deleting your data

In Countertop, open Settings, then Privacy & Data, then Delete Account and All Data. This erases your data on the device, in your iCloud account and in the Community.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Questions: [email protected].
